Well   a lot has happened over the last few days! First they pulled Tristan off the   vent, and he did well for awhile. Maybe a little too well, his O2 saturation   was a little high, now normally in a healthy child this would be perfect, in   Tristans case it’s a problem, so they put him in a tent and introduced   nitrogen into his environment. This option worked really well for a short   time, and then they would have to remove the tent….. not the ideal solution.   During all of this he is having repeated chest x-rays and they discovered   that his left lung had collapsed! This caused an alarm, and he was re-vented,   and given breathing treatments every 4 hours to open the lung back up. They   talked about doing a CAT Scan to determine why his lung collapsed, but before   that was completed his lungs were doing great again? Its good that he is   responding quickly to his treatments and because of this it was determined   that the orfices inside his left lung were just clogged with mucas, from his   body being in shock. We had a meeting with the doctors on Friday, and it was   determined that in Tristans case with his complications, they are going to do   the Hybrid procedure as his first surgery, this procedure has less initial   risk, and will allow Tristan to become stronger before the second surgical   procedure. This is scheculed for Monday morning. Not sure that we are ready for   this, it is very scary, however it has to be done in order for him to   survive. Please pray for Tristan in that everything goes well, and he has a   speedy recovery.

Tristan   has been doing well, and the doctors decided to pull him off the ventilator   and see how he would do. At first he did great, his blood gases actually   improved. They slightly increased over night, still overall very good and   they are not concerned at this point. He sounds very coarse when trying to   cry, this is due to a sore throat from the ventilator tube. Right now we are   waiting for the doctors to meet on Friday and dicuss his surgery options and   scheduling.

Tristan   is doing great, preliminary MRI report looked good, doctors are waiting to go   over with radiolgy for a more complete look. Overall they are pleased with   his current condition, yea!! This should give him a little down time before   his surgery. Keep praying it’s working.

Tristans   Blood gas levels have been constantly trending downward, and this is a good   sign of his body recovering from being in shock. They are hoping to change   him to a less invasive ventilator by monday so they can do an MRI on his   brain. I know this sounds bad, but he is making good progress. Please keep   him in your prayers!

Tristans   blood gases were good all night, belirubin is normal, thinking that they are   going to turn down his ventilator and this might help with his profusion   (color).

Tristan   had a good day today, his stats were some of the best yet, however this   changes so quickly, and is very stressful. They changed out his ventilator to   a different style and this seemed to work better for him, not stable enough   for the MRI yet. Heart rate and o2 levels have leveled off, and they are   constantly tweeking his meds. He is still very sick.

This   morning Tristan was showing signs of seizures, so they preformed an EKG and   that showed his heart working the same as yesterday, Currently the doctors   are doing a EEG to check the brain activity for signs of seizures, and/or   other complications. Ultrasound of the other organs looked good. MRI of the   brain is sched…uled for tomorrow, this will provide a more detailed   information. Please keep him in your thoughts.
